Talesworth Adventure Ep. 2 Update & Screenshot

Hey everyone, just a little update on Talesworth Adventure Ep 2.  We pushed back the launch a bit to make sure everything is as we want it.  I'm estimating that it will be another couple months.  To compensate for the wait, gaze upon an in-game screenshot of what is to come!

  5. the level in the screen shot requires 3 bags of gold, make it 4 by changing the direction of the arrow after you take the weapon or diamond

  6. I believe the tool numbers are correct. Can someone tell me where you're putting bags/gates to solve with only 3 bags and 1 gate?

  7. I thought you would only need 3 at first also, but I guess it is 4. From the beginning, he goes forward hits the wall turns right, goes forward, (place the gate by the tree), he goes through the gate turns right, gets the key hits the wall turns right, goes forward hits the wall turns right, hits the wall turns left, hits the wall turns left, place a bag at the bottom so he turns right. I was thinking he would hit the wall and go right here, but I guess he would turn around because of the arrow, unless you put another bag on the bottom to draw him the other way. And then one use each for the weapon and the diamond. You have to use 4.

  8. no, it is 4, but he can't turn around, you need one more bag to avoid the arrow that get shot at you at the begging... the way it self requires 3 bags and a gate but to avoid the arrow that is shot at you by that grey thing under the tree near the monster that get triggered by the grey brick in the begging you need 4 bags.

  9. Definitely 4 bags; I thought about 3 too at start as well since I didn't notice the skull. Very clever level if my solution is correct; I hope next ones will be as smart as this one.

  10. I'm actually going through now and making things a bit easier, but leaving the CURRENT level design as "Nightmare Mode". It's just impossible for me to keep the difficulty right since it all seems so easy to me having MADE the game! Need more playtesters that have never played the first one.

  13. Should've checked out the site instead of only the first google hit(which is your post from months back). Anyway, good to see such progress, looks really nice! As for testing, unfortunately I can't say that I haven't played part 1, but my gf seemed interested in part 1 but hasn't actually played it, so perhaps I could interest her in testing part 2?

    you can play the Flash version of this game on an Android 2.2+ cellphone without any problem. In did play the Ep.1 on my android phone.

  16. why is it important to have it tested by people who didnt play ep1?

    quoting Sean: "Episode 2 is in development and it is essentially episode one on crack." (newgrounds, answer to a review)

    so i assumed that completion of ep1 would be a requirement.

    i can see the screenshot is from the 2nd area, but even so too easy, and you are still trying to simplify things?

    Sean, dont fool yourself, most players will just search youtube for a walkthrough at the first level they get stuck on, which is like trashing all your hard work

    So you could focus on making the game really interesting and enjoyable for those that will actually Play It, rather than a SIM game for the lazy minded

    honestly, i thought the screen would have more squares to allow for deeper strategy, i dared to imagine levels with rolling stones all over and to get his guns and roses(i mean, guns and golds) Questy would have to precisely time his movements while runing back and forth the whole screen because of blind alleys, multiple-switch doors and what not

    what i see in this screen is the same old beaten tricks:
    L-shaped corridors with candy at the end? 1 gold.
    9-shaped loop with candy? gate it or put gold to invert rotation

    on EP1 we practically eliminated all but 1-3 tools on half the levels and then there wss just a handful of possibilities, just a matter of mentally testing it and finding the right plan... I mean, where's the challenge? :)

    this could be made on ascii for all we care, haha

    so, all you need is inexperienced test players?
    i have both easy and hard type of friends that could test both difficulties, and, well, theres me to test the really special rooms, hehehe

  22. yeah i saw that too! but this one has teleporters and i noticed that if the prince has 2 pathes and each path has a cupcake, he won't necessarily go to the closer one.
