Talesworth Adventure Ep. 1 Walkthrough (OFFICIAL)

I've been amazed at the number of new solutions I've seen people post to my puzzles. Just when I thought I had this thing air-tight, people found innovative, creative solutions that shocked me.

***** SPOILER ALERT - COMPLETE SOLUTION IF YOU CONTINUE  *****

Questy's First Decision

The Lots Of Help Room

Lever Doors Have No Peepholes

One Circle is Enough

The Room O' Many Pits

Questy's Cat-like Reflexes Are Key

I Got Your Back

The Art Of The Lever

Change Of Scenery

Gathering No Moss

An Architect's First Design
This is actually the first map I made when I was still "playing" it on graph paper.

Loops Abound When Gates Are Found

Taking Things In Pieces

Bonus Room 1: Testing Your Wit

Keep Your Eyes On The Prize

Working In Reverse

A Stranger Among Us
If you leave the thief alive, he will show up later and steal a gem from you.  However, if you don't kill him your first time, you can always return to make him pay.

Who Does The Dirty Work?

Remember Where You Put It
This is probably my favorite room.

Bonus Room 2: Tricksy To Begin

How Many Ways To Skin An Ogre

Boulders Care Nothing For Loot

Line 'Em Up!!
This room was patched to fix a really easy solution that I overlooked, and most walkthroughs still have the old version. It's the appropriate difficulty now :)

The Room That Looks Like EG

Bonus Room 3: And Get The Gem?!
I thought this was the hardest room, but I've heard varying opinions.

Those Pesky Arrow Traps

Can't Get Blood From A Stone
If you didn't kill the thief in the earlier level, he will show up and steal your gem.  You can go back at any time and kill him, then come back.

The Dragon's Domain
I think I had the most fun creating the dragon himself.  He stepped right out of my imagination from age 7.

Hope you enjoyed it, and be on the lookout for episode 2!

  1. I had fun playing it, with a little trouble on "Line 'Em Up!!" and "The Dragon's Domain". What language/software do you usually make your games in? =)

  2. Loved it. Genuine retro feel. If you make an Episode 2, please repeat posting a complete solution. I had to peak in here after the thief stole my gem.....CasualGamer (Kongregate profile)

  3. thank you sooooooooo much for the updated Bonus Room 3 solution, only one i've found so far!!!!!

  4. "the pesky arrow traps" level can be tightened up by removing one door because you can reach your goal without it (place the upper moneysack at the yellow lever in the way down -> questy chooses to go straight instead of turning)

I thought i was missing something cause I had a door left. ;D But a very very nice game :) Fav'd on Kongregate. :)

  5. Gosh, a few of those purple levels really got me. S'why I popped in, but oddly enough the red levels were easy. I simply placed what I knew was right, pressed go, and saw what I needed to do! Sadly, those purple levels have a lot of turns...

  6. Great game. The music kept me a bit entertained, and the graphics make me think of those old games. Definitely something I'd expect from Newgrounds. Kong. account: codemon94

  7. in ep 2 you should have blue orcs/gems since you already made the blu gem graphic, it's just recoloring

  8. I want to make sweet sweet love to you.

  9. Very nice game, loved the old skool touch to it

  10. Aw, I thought I was so smart when I figured out how to get the gem in bonus room 3 on my own. I used basically the same solution here.

  11. I thought it was funny to be giving Questy so much loot in order to recover the treasure. 120 bags it was. (Maybe a tasty snack would have been cheaper?)
Good puzzle idea, though. Hasn't exhausted it's potential yet.
BTW, the difficulty of a level depends on whether you can break it down based on obvious steps. It's when the consequences are indirect that it's the hardest.

  12. you're amazingly clever.

  13. quite challenging game, thanks for the nice work.

  14. Can't Get Blood From A Stone, repeat the solution, this is bad

  15. Were you aware of this alternate solution to Who Does The Dirty Work? (not the two bags solution)

    Love the game!

  18. awesome game, i'll admit i only made it about halfway through before i consulted this walkthrough... but even just watching the answers i cheated to get unfold blew my mind.

  19. I wish I could remember the level, but I did find one solution where I had two leftover gates (and I got the gem). Your "An Architect's First Design" solution kills you, though. The one loot should be moved southeast. :) In any case, wonderful game. I did enjoi

  20. Wow! its so simple a game but what puzzilngness eet eez!

  21. "Loops abound where gates are found" can be done leaving one of the doors out. yfrog.com/giloopsaboundp

  22. nice game i took long on finishing it all while collecting all the gems but this helped a lot

  23. "Those pesky arrow traps" can be solved with one less one way door.

You just have to remove the bottom right one-way door, take the gold bag which is two squares up and two squares left to this door, and move it two squares down.

  24. Great puzzle game! Alas, I had to take a peek here for the last stage. Nonetheless, it was fun and challenging! Keep up the great work!

  25. Love the game, can't wait for the second episode, when is the second one due out?

    ReplyDelete
  26. that was fun , i've just completed it and got all the gems too - i only have one complaint , it's about the second last gem. the thief nicked off with it and i thought by squashing him with the boulder he'd drop it again or something , which didn't work, and for a while i was stumped about how to get that gem. i got it eventually after backtracking and dropping him in the pit in the previous encounter. but i felt cheated , because the first time i played through i had also killed the thief with an alternate solution: i was able to get the gem, solve the level, and kill the thief with an arrow trap! yet he was resurrected later

  27. yep this is the only one I found with the arrow in the bonus room turned other way and still be able to get the gem thanx a mil

  28. My girlfriend and I found a an alternate solution for the last level, using the boulder.

    2. Then you did something wrong because his alternate solution works.

    3. Nice alternative solution with 2 bags left - it exploits a glitch though. The boulder kills the monster even though it only passes it and they both disappear.

  29. Ahh thank you...without this I really would be stuck for hours...

  30. My only real trouble was the second level with the thief, I wasted a lot of time trying to squash him, trip him, or even run parallel to him and get stuck with him on the bottom-right corner...

Overall that was a really entertaining game, thank you very much (looking forward to episode 2)!

  31. Great puzzle Game!
The Bonus Room 2: Tricksy To Begin was the hardest room to me.
    I really want a Dragon gif =D

  32. thank you so much for the walkthrough. i would never have been able to beat the game without it

  33. Thanks Very SO SO SO Much.......

  34. There is another way to complete the last map. I was surprised to see different positioning in the solution :)
I'll try to explain the placement of the bags and doors. Dp the same placement as in the solution. Then remove 2 bags: 1 under the green axe and 1 which is near the sword. Place first bag right near the dragon's door and second right below the first. Remove right door from the hall leading to the dragon and put it 2 tiles down and 1 tile left. Remove left door from the hall leading to the dragon and put it 3 tiles down and 1 tile right. That's it! I hope you enjoyed this decision, as it totally ingores room with axes :)

  35. awesome game. i really enjoyed it

  36. Jinx, this probably too late, but the solution for "Remember Where You Put It" is wrong. The one-way gate should be placed next to the key and ABOVE the directional arrow, instead of BELOW it. Placing the OWG below the arrow will result in Questy running into the green troll with a red axe.

  37. Thanks for making this game, I really enjoyed it!
